Alison Lees
The James Hutton Institute

Alison Lees is a senior potato pathologist and head of The Department of Cell & Molecular Sciences at The James Hutton Institute in Dundee, Scotland. She has a Ph.D in wheat stem base diseases obtained from Harper Adams University College & The John Innes Centre and 30 years of research experience focusing primarily on the epidemiology, detection and integrated management of potato late blight and various soil-borne diseases.
Alison has a particular interest in Integrated Pest Management, is a coordinator of Euroblight ‘A Late-Blight Network for Europe,’ and is the secretary of the European Association for Potato Research. Her research aims to develop strategies for the sustainable control of damaging pests and diseases of major Scottish crops.
