Cedric Porter is the editor and owner of World Potato Markets; a weekly report on global potato production, trade, pricing and consumption that is read by potato professionals across the world. He is a regular speaker at potato conferences and provides data and insight for governments and companies.
Cedric grew up on a UK crop and livestock farm before studying agriculture and then journalism. He has edited farming newspapers and magazines in the UK and Netherlands and provides economic and business analysis for Farmers Guardian, a weekly British agricultural newspaper.
In 2012 Cedric chaired the Oxford Farming Conference, the UK’s premier agricultural conference. He has served as vice-chair of LEAF – Linking Environment And Farming, a UK charity that promotes Integrated Farm Management and better engagement with the public. He was a director of a large potato farm in the east of England and also a member of the UK government’s Trade & Agriculture Commission, which scrutinises post-Brexit trade deals. He is a fellow of the Institute of Agricultural Management, a member of the British Guild of Agricultural Journalists and the Agricultural Economics Society and an associate of the Council for Awards of Royal Agricultural Societies.
Cedric has a passion for potatoes and sees them as one of the most nutritious, best-value and environmentally sustainable ways of feeding the planet. His favourite potato dish is Dauphinoise.
