I am a potato scientist from India. I completed Ph.D. in Horticulture from Govind Ballabh Pant University of Agriculture and Technology, Pantnagar, India. I served as an Assistant Professor in School of Agricultural Sciences,  SGRR University, Uttarakhand, India. Later I joined International Potato Center in 2019 as agronomist and worked for more than six years in  Haryana State in North India on two potato projects of each three year: I. Quality seed Potato production using Aeroponics and select to supply short duration potato varieties at Potato Technology Center, Shamgarh, Karnal-year project , II. Making Haryana potato seed hub through seed village concept and contributed to bring a third phase project of four years on  “Enhancing farm income by intervention of innovative technologies and climate smart potato varieties in arid region of South-West Haryana. All these projects  were funded by National Agriculture Research Development Scheme (Government of India).

The projects was aiming for making Haryana a potato seed hub through seed village concept by developing and introduce new innovative technologies and short duration region specific potato varieties.   I introduced Apical Rooted Cuttings technology in Haryana and established sustainable ARC business model by linking marginal farmers of hills and large seed growers of plains. Villages involved in ARC production are known are now known Potato ARC village. The technology significantly enhanced marginal farmers’ and seed growers’ income.  Trained Haryana farmers on ARC production, quality seed production by using ARC and minitubers and still associated with potato growers and scientists, providing consultancy and expert guidance on formal and informal potato seed production and marketing.

I made a farmers’ ARC production association to make the system sustainable. This association in now working successfully. Apart from this, I was also involved in evaluation of climate resilient and biofortified germplasms under Indian Council of Agriculture Research project and promoted new early maturing varieties for cereal based system.
